What's Your Mom eating for dinner?

Hi everyone,
There is a lot of attention on the state of our children's health, as there should be, but I'm wondering about the Elderly. As I say in the title, what is your Mom having for dinner? Many elderly, and it is a staggering statistic, are malnourished. Often, transportation is a problem. How do they get to the store? Is there enough money for food. I heard a story once about a pharmacist who watched this one woman come in for her husband's heart medicine. He noticed her getting thin and knew that they lived in a nice home in a "good" neighborhood so he didn't give it a lot of thought. Finally he looked into the situation a bit more...an intervention if you will..and discovered that there wasn't enough money left over for enough food after paying for the medicine and the other monthly bills. How good of him to care and take action. Older people also loose taste which can affect their food choices, often salting way too much. Something as basic as the condition of teeth and possibly dentures is also a consideration. Also, don't forget the social factors. Maybe a "dinner-buddy" is a good idea.
Our elderly deserve our attention and respect.
Best of health!
