“Climbing into fierce winds, she was awed by the beauty of her own surrender.” —Anonymous Woman
Dear Friends, Family and Students:
Thank you all for your support and care! Since my ePostcard of April 17th, I have received more phone calls and emails than I can respond to personally, but I want to share what I can tell you.
I recently had a personal experience that quite literally knocked me flat; shattering my confidence and the vision of who I am. It challenges what I thought my life was about and everything changed in a moment, without warning.
The women in my life picked me up and set me on a course to recover my confidence. “First things, first!” They took me to the beauty salon and I surrendered. I chose to return from my natural gray locks to the golden highlighted soft brown shade of my younger years. My daughters gave me the courage to learn how to apply natural looking make-up. The next step was a few new clothes, because on the ‘personal-stress-diet’, weight drops off quickly! (I will be writing an article for people on what and how to eat in times of great stress, very soon!)
I would like to offer an apology to all my gray-haired sisters who applauded me when I decided to eschew hair coloring and return to natural gray hair, a few years back. Natural is beautiful and it takes a certain confidence to choose it, which is also a beautiful thing! If I was ever a self-righteous gray-haired woman, my apologies! I was coming from a place of confidence and with your good health in mind. My choice now, at this time in my life, is the right one for me and I have a different perspective on the matter, as well as the proper use (and, conversely the abuse) of hair chemical application.
Here I am: The Nature Girl, who eats only organic foods, exercises daily and teaches about a healthy lifestyle! One day when I have come out the other side of this life experience, you may once again see the old (young!) me again!
Now, I want to say thank you to my closest friends and family: In my life, I have always been the one people go to when they need something done, but for 3 weeks, I have been the recipient, which is odd for me. I truly did not know how much I am loved and how many people cared about me. To my Mom, my sisters, my four daughters, both my sons and my friends who really are my sisters as well, there are no words to thank you. To my big extended family, especially one sister-in-law and my mother-in-law: I thank you so much.
I am so grateful for my many blessings and for this time of my life which is unfolding so quickly and unexpectedly! I look forward to welcoming you to my new school on my beautiful ranch in Applegate, Oregon and will be sharing the details of this wonderful new adventure soon!
In peace, with love and gratitude,
Patty
